Window Treatments for Preserving Your View
Is preserving your view an important consideration when choosing window treatments? This video by The Home Depot presents several options:
Solar shades are a great option for rooms with a view that also get a lot of direct sunlight. When closed, these shades greatly diminish the glare but provide enough transparency for you to still see out. When raised, they virtually disappear on top of the window and provide an unobstructed view. One thing to remember is that these shades do not provide privacy at night.
Many woven wood shades have an open weave that preserves your view. Sometimes called bamboo shades, woven wood shades are made from a variety of materials such as woods, reeds and grasses that offer a nice natural style to any room.
Honeycombs shades are a great choice due to their versatility and the fact that they stack very compactly at the top of the window. Choose a top-down bottom-up shade to adjust the shade for the view you want along with the privacy you need. Some shades have sheer fabric options that allow you to enjoy the awesome insulating value that a honeycomb shade offers and still be able to look outside to enjoy your view.
Horizontal or vertical blinds can be adjusted partially to maintain your view while shading out the sun. When closed, they provide complete privacy. Most blinds have a larger stack when open which will block part of your view.
Wood and faux wood blinds with large slats will also help you keep your favorite view while maintaining the look of classic blinds. With a 2-1/2 inch slat, you’ll have plenty of space to see outside.
It’s recommended that you order free samples of the materials you intend to purchase so that you can check to see if they will allow you to maintain your desired view.
