Ventless Gas Fireplace With Stone Surround Warms Up a Basement

The homeowners wanted to warm up their cold basement room but thought that a fireplace was out of the question. The good news was that there was a solution – a ventless gas fireplace, which requires no chimney or outside ventilation source.

The finishing touch was a custom built surround which was installed as a DIY project. Stone was selected in order to provide a rustic feel. Out of the different options for stone, stacked slate was chosen as it was reasonably priced, had textural variety and came in a variety of colors that provided inspiration for some of the other elements in the room, such as the carpet.
