Unique and Creative Storage Designs

Storage can be a challenge, especially in small rooms, but by thinking outside the box (no pun intended), you can develop clever and unexpected solutions. Designer Rebecca Robeson presents her unique and creative storage designs in this video by Robeson Design:

Hidden storage such as pull-out shelves or drawers behind a wall is one of Rebecca’s favorites. Decorative molding or sconces on the exterior provides the perfect camouflage.

Another great place for hidden storage – or even a mini-bar – is under a staircase. Toe kicks can disguise a drawer or a platform that helps children reach a sink or vanity top. For the ultimate in outdoor living, a TV can be stored under the deck and raised and lowered by a hidden hydraulic lift.

Furniture can also provide hidden storage, such as bookshelves behind a sofa, a slot for a flat iron, blow dryer and electrical outlets under the vanity countertop, under-the-seat storage within a window seat, banquette, or ottoman, or under-the bed drawers. A credenza can house large tech gadgets like a printer.

In a tight kitchen, a mobile island cart can be moved around as needed to allow access to cabinets or appliances.

You can make the most of empty wall space by using floor-to-ceiling shelving, cabinets, bookcases and wardrobes along with canvas totes or baskets to organize and hide clutter.
