Ultimate Work-From-Home Space
These homeowners needed a dedicated office. While their large basement had good bones with 10-foot ceilings and a window, the space was bland with a beige carpet and builder beige walls, and it had become a dumping ground. Zone creation and organization were needed to make the space more functional. See the features of this ultimate work-from-home space in this House & Home video:
To create contrast and make the space feel more interesting and grounded, dark laminate flooring was installed that was heated, waterproof and durable. The existing carpeting, which was in good condition, was repurposed into an area rug for the more casual family area, which has built-ins, a fireplace, large TV and a large sectional sofa that’s comfortable for lounging and watching movies.
The adjacent workspace has a large desk (a dining table conversion) with an overhead pendant light and a round stone table suitable for meetings and family gatherings. Ledges and built-ins display a large collection of books and objects collected from travel. A large black library ladder adds an old world touch.
