Traditional Farmhouse Design with a Modern Twist
It’s a safe bet to build a home in the same architectural style as the rest of the homes in the area, but it’s always fun to add something unexpected. Carley Knobloch discusses the modern twist on the traditional farmhouse design of the HGTV 2015 Smart Home in this HGTV video:
While built in the traditional farmhouse style, it’s called “modern farmhouse” as it’s a fresh modern take on the original:
- This new house was built with cedar shingles, clapboard siding and a metal roof, similar to materials used on a traditional farmhouse exterior but made a bit more contemporary.
- Unlike its traditional counterpart, this covered porch is column-less and provides a look that is clean, uncluttered and very modern.
- The neon address sign is a nod to Austin with its neon art and signage and provides a pop of fun.
