Tips for Creating an Over-the-Top Elegant Christmas Tree
Nothing says “Christmas” like a beautifully decorated tree. There are lots of looks that are easy to achieve – simple, subtle, themed, color-coordinated – but a big bold designer look can be tough to put together. This Lowe’s video presents some helpful tips for creating an over-the-top elegant tree:
Gather your favorite elements and “get your designer on” using the following six easy tips.
1. Lights are the foundation of any tree decor, so don’t use them sparingly. Wrap from the inside out so the whole tree glows.
2. You can create an impressive garland from ribbon. Try a combination of three parallel ribbons that drape into a corkscrew pattern down the tree. Ribbon is readily available and is easy to customize using different colors and widths, so you can create a garland that suits your tree and your taste.
3. Consider clustering your ornaments instead of hanging them individually around the tree. Mix sizes and shapes for more impact. Blend clusters and single ornaments until the tree is filled.
4. Picks are a great way to add dimension and an extra touch of elegance to your tree. A berry pick paired with a beautiful bird creates a repeating motif throughout the tree.
5. For a stunning skirt, use an extra-wide ribbon and loop and wire it into something unexpected. Tuck picks into the skirt for an airy, light, elegant effect.
6. A tree topper tops it all off. Again, don’t go with something expected like a star or an angel. The topper on the tree featured in this video consists of three tabletop trees turned upside down and filled with an ornament assortments, with glittery poinsettia picks creating fullness. Make sure to account for room height, especially if you have a large topper. Other topper ideas include silvery berry picks or burlap poinsettia picks paired with berry and twig picks.
