Tiny House on the Outskirts of Vancouver Provides Financial Freedom

In a city where people are struggling with the cost of housing, this tiny house on the outskirts of Vancouver provides financial freedom from the area’s expensive real estate market. Take the tour in this Living Big in a Tiny House video:

This house is just under 500 square feet and is built from cedar siding and corrugated metal. There are solar panels on the roof and a water collection tank. The homeowners added landscaping, fruit trees, outdoor seating areas and a “catio” that allows the cats to be outside while being protected from wild animals.

The open kitchen has a gas range, a double apron sink, and a refrigerator that runs on both electricity and propane. A folding breakfast bar and bench situated in front of a window provides a great view of nature. There is ample storage, including a cabinet with double lazy Susans that serves as a pantry. The adjacent lounge area has a large TV and comfortable seating.

Other features include a laundry area with a stacked washer and dryer, bathroom with a full soaking tub, full size sink and composting toilet, and two sleeping lofts with skylights and diamond windows, one accessible by ladder and the other by stairs, that have a treehouse feel.
