Three Ways to Train Clematis

Clematis is an attractive flowering vine that is a popular choice for home landscaping. Learn three ways to train clematis in this Lowe’s video:



1. Trellis on wall: Plant about 4-6 inches from the trellis so roots have room. Tie loosely with twine, panty hose loops or gardener’s wire.

2. Planting against wall: Mark first hook at about 1/3 eventual height of plant. Drill and install the hook. Install wire rope clip. Run wire to level and mark the second hook. Drill and install the hook. install turnbuckle and tighten wire. Tie vines to the wire.

3. Wrap around a post or column: Wrap galvanized wire and secure with wire ties. Wind the vine around in a pattern that allows light and air.
