Three Tips for Prioritizing Your Landscaping Budget
It’s easy to go overboard and over budget on your landscaping, so set limits by thinking about how you plan to use your outdoor space. Landscaping expert Jovo Ivekich presents three tips for prioritizing your landscaping budget in this Better Homes and Gardens video:
If you’re working within a budget on your landscaping, focus on general principals of health, safety and well-being.
1. Check your Drainage System: Make sure your grade drains properly and that you have no issues with water going into your foundation or leaking into your basement, which could lead to even bigger problems along the way.
2. Assess Your Hardscape: Hardscaping material tends to be very expensive per square foot, so when considering walkways, patios, or amenities like built-in grills or fire pits, think about what you really need and what you will be using the most and prioritize those accordingly.
3. Evaluate Your Lawn Area: If you’re doing a new lawn area or re-doing an old one due to damage or infestation with weeds or insects, think about whether you should go with seed or sod or with an irrigation system or non-irrigation system.
