1. Incorporate the same hardscaping elements in the front as well as in the back. For the home featured in this video, the same stone transitions from the front walkway to the border of the back deck as well as the side yard.

2. Use the same types of plants in the same types of patterns. For example, if you have rows of small evergreens in the front of the house, repeat them along the back of the house.

3. Use the same color scheme throughout. For this featured home, gray and slate blue tones appear in the front and back yard. They are used in the river rocks lining the walkway and deck, then transitioning to blue planters in the back.
