The New Hues for 2015
here’s no easier way to bring trend into your home than with paint. See the new bold and neutral hues for 2015 and how to use them in this House & Home video:
Blue Coal: This color is the “new black”, dark and moody, and can be paired with creamy white trim and a chevron patterned floor. Use with amber accents and fabrics that combine all of these colors.
Flamenco Red: Latin America is having a big moment and it is reflected in this color which makes a good backdrop for edgy accenats. For a hip urban look, pair it with creamy white trim, a very pale bleached oak floor, light pine or oak furniture, Mexican turquoise and a hint of black. Don’t forget wovens for added texture.
Purple Basil: This gorgeous color is a great choice for a study or living room and can be paired with distressed pine floors, burlap, deep red, hints of black and Moroccan colors.
Wet Rock: This is a more muted, darker gray. To avoid making a room look like a a basement, add surface-applied moldings to the walls to make it look interesting. Use different fabrics in a variety of moody gray and taupe tones along with burnished brass, distressed tin, leather, and a medium distressed wood floor to create the feeling of an old world European painting.
Writer’s Green: Dusty and moody, used with hints of taupe, the texture of crushed velvet, burnished brass, sea grass and raw wood candlesticks, it gives an artistic slightly feminine feeling to a sitting room.
Artisan White: This neutral has a warm old-world feeling like natural stucco and can be used in a room with stone floors, matte black, hints of leather and dark wood furniture to create the new farmhouse look.
Lilac Luster: A good choice for homes with modern architecture or rooms with black, off-black or gray window frames. Edgy accessories, hints of gold or polished brass and fur, and pale floors keep this color from looking sweet.
Pink Ground: Young, girlish, urban and very hip, this color needs the right accessories in turquoise, deep pink, and jadeite and a hint of charcoal gray to ground it all.
Alpine Mist: This color works well on clean contemporary architecture. In the featured kitchen renovation, it is used on kitchen cabinetry and paired with white metal appliances and accessories, dark green accents and distressed white oak flooring.
Dreamscape Gray: A fresh appealing color, it is soft, easy to use and perfect in a kitchen when paired with Caesarstone countertops, white subway tile backsplash, medium toned hardwood pine or oak floors, and burnished gold or brass hardware.
