The Versatility of Tab Top Curtains
Tab top curtains, as their name implies, have tabs on top that form loops for the curtain rod to go through. You will see more of the curtain rod with this type of curtain, so it is a good idea to use a rod that that is attractive. Tab top curtains can be made out of almost any material, from cotton to faux suede. You can enhance the look by putting a sheer or semi sheer curtain behind one of these curtains; you can let the sheer part will peek through, or you can pull back the panels to show more of it. You can even get these curtains in thermal materials to help save on energy costs, or in blackout materials to keep the sun out of a room and let you (or a baby) sleep longer. If you prefer a solo valance to drapery panels, you can also get a valance in a tab top style.
Tab top curtains are versatile and can be used in any room. You can even use them with a shower curtain liner to make a fancy bathroom shower curtain. Just choose the curtain based on the formality of the room where you would like it to go. For a more formal room, you might want to use heavier and more formal fabrics. In a kitchen you can use more playful designs or lighter fabrics. If you want, you can add extra style by putting embellishments such as buttons on the tabs. You can also choose different tab styles. Some tabs are more visible since they end in the front of the curtain. They might be straight across on the bottom, or curved or pointed.
