Shoebox Apartment That Feels a Lot Bigger
Most of us can’t afford a penthouse, but that doesn’t mean you can’t take a tiny hole-in-the-wall apartment and make it feel like one. See how a 400 square-foot shoebox apartment was made to feel like a luxury home in this HGTV Remodels video:
Clever storage and optical illusions make this small apartment feel a lot bigger. The main living area has high ceilings, and the walls are large cabinets that reflect light into the room. An alcove under the cabinets provides room for an L-shaped custom-made desk.
Space is maximized through verticality by the addition of a
loft with a privacy screen that serves as the sleeping area. The stairs are all drawers for storage.
The pullman-style kitchen has two levels of cabinets, a stackable washer/dryer and an extendable table. Small tiles in the kitchen and bathroom give the illusion of a larger space.
