Shoe Storage Ideas
Storing shoes can be a problem, but you can optimize your closet storage space and keep your shoes organized with the right storage solution. There are several types of organizers available on the market, each with its own pros and cons. Here are some ideas for storing shoes in your closet in this video by Closet Works:
Over-the-door shoe racks are ideal if you have limited floor space. These racks hang over a bedroom or closet door and have knobs for hanging shoes or slots for storing shoes. They are a good storage solution in apartments or bedrooms although they probably aren’t suitable for entryways.
Shoe storage cabinets make a good addition to your bedroom when you have a lot of shoes and you have a lot of closet or room space. These cabinets have doors on the front and shelves on the inside and can hold items other than shoes. They are typically the size of a narrow chest of drawers. As they are usually lacquered and finished, they blend in well with your bedroom decor.
Shoe storage racks are feasible if you only have a few pairs of shoes. They consist of tiered shelves that sit close to the floor and come in a variety of finishes. Shoe racks are perfect for entryways of bedrooms.
Shoe storage benches serve a duel purpose of providing a sitting area for putting on or taking off shoes and storing and organizing your shoes. Some benches are simple storage benches with a top lid in which gloves, backpacks, shoes and other items can be dropped inside, while others have a grid of cubby holes for storing shoes.
If you’re really short on space, under the bed shoe storage is probably your best option. Under-the-bed shoe organizers store 12-16 pairs of shoes and come in two types, large zippered vinyl bags and wooden boxes, both with clear covers. While bags are cheaper, wooden boxes are more durable.
