Serene Comfortable Gathering Space

New furniture, flooring, lighting accessories and color scheme transformed this large, dark living room into a serene, comfortable gathering space. See the details in this Smart Interiors video:

This great room, a large space with dark oversized furniture, was in need of some definition as well as some brightening. The homeowners wanted comfortable clean-lined furniture, a soft gray color palette and a hint of coastal in the decor.

In the living area, the new better-scaled furniture provides plenty of seating. A half-round snakeskin pleather storage ottoman under the window provides a place for the homeowners’ dogs to look outside.

Moving the dining table into the space allowed for a bigger table, and the former dining room was converted into a reading room with seating for four. Clean-line wainscoting divides the living and dining spaces and also encases the entryway.

An underwater photograph printed on glass and a blue glass-blown art installation add a smack of coastal to the space.
