Rustic Americana-Inspired Master Suite

With a vaulted ceiling, custom-built tongue-and-groove planks everywhere you look, and plenty of rustic furniture, the master suite in the 2015 HGTV Urban Oasis is Americana-inspired. See the features in this HGTV video:

The best way to describe the overall style of this bedroom is transitional Americana, which is just a fancy way of saying a more sophisticated approach to classic country. The platform bed is a perfect example. Every country-style home has some type of quilted element. At the foot of this bed is a beautiful red quilted throw, and there are quilted pillows at the headboard. Hotel-styled bedding and striped pillows add modern touches.

Other elements that fit into the transitional Americana style are the traditional handmade rug and the paired chests on either side of the bed. The chests are traditional in shape, but the wood has a washed-out look, and the detailing on the front of the drawers is a little bit more clean and lacks a lot of the typical traditional ornamentation. Sitting on top of each chest are reclaimed lamps made from farm elements. Lastly, the window dressing really “screams” transitional Americana. Large-scale gingham is a classic timeless print, but using a larger scale makes it a lot more modern and up-to-date.

The TV is camouflaged in a gallery wall, surrounded by farm- or Americana-style pieces. Below the gallery wall are three bunching chests placed together that are metal and rustic-looking and house all the components you don’t want to see, so it looks clean and without clutter.

In the master bathroom, all of the elements were chosen for their timelessness. Classic blue-and-white striped curtains will never go out of style. The mosaic matte finish Carrara marble floor ties in beautifully with the decorative wall panels inside the shower and around the tub. Blue handmade porcelain tiles were installed from floor to ceiling for a real pop of bold color. Although small, there’s everything you need for a luxurious bath: a double vanity, soaking tub and freestanding shower.

With its updated yet classic color scheme, this master suite is a unique and unexpected blend of country and contemporary.
