Renovated Semi-Detached Family Home

This semi-detached home had a tight footprint and no front hall closet. The front entryway was dumping ground for kids’ boots and backpacks, and there was a combined small kitchen and dining room and a tiny living room. An extension to the front of the house as well as a renovation were needed to make the home more functional for the family. Following the renovation, all the rooms feel harmonious and quite neutral, but every room has repeating accents with color, metallics and natural and faux stone elements. The new front entryway has a beautiful window box and large mudroom with a bench and custom built-ins. The dining room has a long lean table and a updated fireplace with a deep matte blue mantel, a new stone floor, and new tile surround. In the kitchen, space reclaimed from the dining room allowed for a large island with seating and a large pantry wall with a servery counter; Shaker bevel cabinetry adds visual interest and is more maintenance friendly. The adjacent living room has lots of light and flows into the backyard; it has comfortable seating, drum tables, and custom built-ins and bookcases with integrated library lighting. Upstairs, the master bedroom has a cooler palette with limited accents, luxurious-feeling textiles and custom pillows, drapery and millwork, and the ensuite bath has a dual vanity and glass shower.
