Quick Front Porch Makeover

Making over a front porch doesn’t have to be a big ordeal – sometimes all you need are a few quick fixes to make a big impact. See the makeover details of this dull lackluster front porch in this House & Home video:

This front porch with its dark door, undersized light fixture, tired bench and a column rotting at the bottom needed new life.

The front door was primed and painted with a soft chartreuse color, with the trim touched up in its original color and the hardware painted with a matte black spray paint.

Renovating the column required professional assistance. The rotting base was removed and replaced with pressure treated wood. The column was re-installed with an aluminum cap placed around the base.

The light fixture was swapped out for a larger one with clean lines and a hexagonal shape. A black backing plate with pewter numerals adds more weight to the house number.

Some of the bench rails were loose and required re-gluing. Once done, the bench was then sprayed with a fresh coat of paint.

Now this front porch has a fresh new look with a bold punch of color.
