Playful Yet Sophisticated Girl’s Bedroom

Designing kid’s rooms is challenging because you have to pack a lot of style and function into them. The young client likes fashion, dance, and ’80’s music and is well-travelled both in North America and Europe. This playful yet sophisticated girl’s bedroom meets current needs and has the potential to evolve over time. See the features in this House & Home video:

This older home has no closets, so an Ikea built-in unit serves as a wardrobe and provides ample storage. Adding a colorful graphic Christian Lacroix wallpaper and beautiful pink and charcoal gray linen bedding makes the bed a real focal point.

The vanity, desk and desk area furniture have clean contemporary lines; in contrast, there are antique pieces such as the bedside tables and the French Art Deco club chair on the porch which was re-upholstered in green velvet.

Travel souvenirs and vintage fashion photography are displayed on the fireplace mantel and walls. Sconces and the unique agate slice hardware on the built-in provide the finishing touches.
