Palm Springs Mid-Century Home

This Palm Springs mid-century home was originally built in the 1960s by William Cody but had a subsequent 1980s renovation that brought in glass blocks, curved walls and other elements that were not appealing to the current owner, designer Staci Munic. See how she opened up the home and brought it back to life in this HouzzTV video:

The home had to be re-engineered, and a steel I-beam was added as an architectural element after the wall separating the living and kitchen spaces was removed. The kitchen has a picket blue/white/gray backsplash, terrazzo-look porcelain flooring, and laminate wood-look cabinetry that hides the refrigerator, pantry and wine fridge also complements the I-beam. Black accents around the home, such as in the chairs, artwork and the inside of the living room fireplace, bring the eye to those spaces purposely. The living room has a fireplace with a white ledger stone surface, comfortable sofas and mid-century style chairs.

In the master suite, the bathroom has the same cabinetry as the kitchen with an all-drawer vanity, a large yellow pouf, soaking tub framed by a mosaic tile background, and a glass shower; the master bedroom is furnished with vintage and antique pieces and artwork. The guest bedroom walls are covered with woven grass cloth and laser-cut wood panels that serve not only as art but also as headboards for the twin beds. Outside the master bedroom, there is an outdoor living space with a chaise lounge, a seating area with deck chairs and a central fire pit, along with additional outdoor seating and dining areas next to the living room.
