Open-Plan Family Kitchen

This home located in the Berkeley Hills was broken into small rooms with a very inconvenient circulation flow. The goal of this renovation was to create a feeling of lightness and openness with natural light and air. See how a roomy kitchen was achieved in a limited space in this Trends video:

Tearing down walls and raising the ceiling opened up the space. A natural color palette was used, juxtaposing light-colored smooth surfaces wih zebrawood and European walnut. The size of the sliding glass door leading out to the deck was increased, enhancing the views of the San Francisco Bay. Adding a very large window that comes down to the countertop level opened up additional views.
