Open Concept Kitchen and Dining Room

In the kitchen, the whole design was centered on an exposed brick wall uncovered during the renovation which was whitewashed in order to make it work with the subdued white and blue color scheme. The stark white backdrop soaks up all the light from the windows and contrasts beautifully against the bold navy blue cabinets.

Two different countertop materials create another contrast in the kitchen, with white carrara marble on the perimeter cabinets and black walnut on the generously-sized central island. Two massive woven basket pendants anchor the open and airy space above the island. The layout of this kitchen really works, and it flows nicely all the way into the dining room.

The muted blue-gray in the dining room goes really well with the bolder navy blue of the kitchen cabinets; the two colors speak to each other without matching. The light blue walls accentuate all of the architectural detail of the cased opening, the coffered ceiling and the original cased windows. The two main furniture elements are an oversized round pedestal table, perfect for getting all the way around the space, and the three chests placed together that create the look of one super-long sideboard. An amazing amount of natural light floods in through the windows which are softened with floor-to-ceiling drapery and direct your eye out to the beautiful view.
