Neglected Master Bedroom Makeover
The renovation of the master bedroom kept getting put on the back burner, but these first-time homeowners realized the time was ripe for a much-needed upgrade. With five easy DIY projects in one weekend, DIY expert Monica Mangin transforms this space into one that reflects the couple’s personal style. See the details of this neglected master bedroom makeover in this Lowe’s video:
1. Painting three walls in a neutral color eliminates the yellow tone of the room. The fourth wall is the focal point with its Shibori wallpaper that was created from textured wallpaper treated with indigo paint.
2. Removing the carpeting and installing wide plank click-and-lock wood-look laminate gives the room a more sophisticated feel.
3. The custom headboard is made from cedar fence posts stained with a weathered oak stain and cut into small slices.
4. A vintage dresser was upcycled by sanding, re-painting, and replacing the hardware.
5. Attaching 1/2-inch molding horizontally across the face of the doors and adding a fresh coat of paint gives them a custom look.
