Natural Fall Garland

Give your party a more sophisticated organic look by hanging a natural fall garland. Learn how to create your own in this HGTV video:

You can purchase the following items at your local craft store and then create your garland by following these steps:

Magnolia Leaves: Wipe waxy side of the leaves down with a paper towel and then paint with a coat of metallic paint. Let dry. Lay variegated yarn against the stem of each leaf, then wrap brown floral tape around it to secure the yarn and cover the stem.

Feathers: Take variegated yarn and lay it against the bottom of the feather and wrap to cover the cut end. Halfway up, thread a wooden bead on, and then finish covering the end of the feather with the yarn. Tie it off with a knot.

Acorns: Cut lengths of brown ribbon and hot-glue them to the top of the acorns.

Assorted Natural Botanicals: Hot-glue assorted dried leaves, mushrooms, etc. to thick yarn strings. Mix up sizes and have some facing forwards and others backwards.

To assemble the garland, tie the elements onto a jute string, mixing them up and spacing them about three inches apart. Hang up your finished garland.
