Multifunctional Laundry Room Makeover

This New Orleans homeowner had a large laundry room/mudroom that he also wanted to use as an entertainment zone that bridges the indoors and the outdoors. With five easy DIY projects in one weekend, DIY expert Monica Mangin creates an eclectic space that meets all three requirements. 1. The wall behind the washer and dryer was painted with blue hand-painted brushstroke stripes.

2. A mudroom bench provides seating for guests.

3. A wall-mounted foldaway table serves double-duty as a laundry folding station and a food and drink station.

4. A waterfall countertop installed over the washer and dryer adds additional counter space.

5. The dark walnut stain on the countertop matches the outside door. Storage cubes mounted on the wall provides space for bins and containers for laundry supplies.

Curtains and an open bar shelf provide the finishing touches.
