Multifunctional Attic Makeover

These homeowners have a third floor attic that hasn’t been touched in 50 years, but they are excited about its potential. With five easy DIY projects in one weekend, DIY expert Monica Mangin creates a bonus room that can be used for work, reading, yoga and accommodating guests. 1. The wood paneling was painted a bright white, and the original pink wall was repainted a light sage green.

2. His and her desks were built from sawhorses and panels, stained a dark brown and attached to the wall.

3. A DIY built-in reading nook doubles as a day bed.

4. Industrial style book shelves were constructed from galvanized pipes and 1×6’s.

5. A faux wall was made by adding a frame to a half wall and inserting wood slats in an angled pattern.
