Multi-purpose Casual Dining Room Makeover
These homeowners purchased a BBQ restaurant which came with an outdated farmhouse. They opened up their closed-in kitchen and wanted to make their dining room reflect their rustic country style. With five easy DIY projects in one weekend, DIY expert Monica Mangin transforms this space into a multi-purpose casual dining room. See the details of this makeover in this Lowe’s video:
1. The walls were painted a neutral clay color that lightens and brightens the space and makes it feel more airy. To create an accent wall, tongue-and-groove planks were applied horizontally to create a faux shiplap style and painted a dark sable brown to add coziness to the space.
2. A peninsula built from stock cabinets and pine boards was installed between the kitchen and dining room and serves as a breakfast bar.
3. The custom-made rustic farmhouse table has a herringbone tabletop pattern, giving it a unique subtle accent.
4. Rustic industrial shelves were made from capped galvanized pipes, wall flanges and chunky pine boards.
5. Plain pine boards accented with a bit of crown molding along the top and painted gives the illusion of vintage molding at about half the cost.
