Multi-functional Cat Hangout

This first-time homeowner and self-professed cat lady wanted to combine her need for a guest room with her love of cats. With five easy DIY projects in one weekend, DIY expert Monica Mangin creates a space that does double-duty as a cat room and guest room. See the details of this multi-functional cat hangout
in this Lowe’s video:

1. The DIY headboard, made from plywood, boards and inexpensive colorful doormats, doubles as a scratching post. The doormats slide out of the frame and can be replaced as needed.

2. A ledge of crown molding was attached to one wall, along with sanded and painted vintage dresser drawers, to form a cat walk.

3. A DIY painted wood slat cover hides the radiator and expands the window ledge, the cats’ favorite seating area.

4. Cat bunk beds were made from a thrift store suitcase and wooden legs. An old trunk was retrofitted with a door and holds (and hides) the litter box.

5. The original closet door was replaced with a barn door. The closet was stocked with guest essentials such as bath accessories, a mini medical kit and other mini supplies, and towels.
