Modern Rustic Home Exterior
The original front yard of designer Amy Matthews’ rustic rambler was a dense forest of buckthorn, but hidden behind it was a home with cedar siding that was in great condition. See the renovation details of Amy’s modern rustic home exterior in this video by The Design Network:
Once the cedar was completely stripped, the roof power washed, and the new black windows and doors installed, the cedar looked stunning.
One of the most beautiful parts of the property are the rocks, and Amy made them the focal points of the landscape, moving them around to give elevation to the front of the house.
A new larger deck created a clean palette for the modern elements that were added. The crushed gravel patio was an affordable way to add a seating space while keeping the space rustic and not too refined.
The beautiful new windows let you be inside the home while enjoying the amazing outdoors and add personality to the exterior.
The roundabout needed to be both functional and beautiful. The center island was built from outcropping rocks and soil and is the focal point when you turn into the house.
