Minimalist Kitchen With Large Island Featuring an Inverted Pyramid-Shaped Island Tabletop
The focal point of this minimalist kitchen is its large island featuring an inverted pyramid-shaped tabletop made from polished stainless steel. Designer Morgan Cronin discusses the design influences for this modern kitchen in this Trend video:
The unusual shape of the island came from the angled spaces that surround it. As you approach the island from the hallway, its size appears to lengthen, and as the island shape changes, the room changes as well, which is how the design ended up as an inverted pyramid. Polished stainless steel was chosen as it was already an existing finish in the kitchen as well as through the rest of the house, and unlike standard stainless steel, it is scratch and stain-resistant. The white backsplash tile is a continuation of that used in the home’s entryway. White cabinetry ensures the island remains the centerpiece of this kitchen.
