Making a Small Home Feel Bigger

Feel cramped in your current home? Want to move but worried that potential buyers will see your home as too small? Don’t want to spend too much money oh a makeover? Watch how this home is turned into a showplace on a small budget in this HGTV Designed to Sell video:

Here’s how this home was transformed:

The living room has new furniture along with baskets that match the new chairs. Canned lighting and a new coat of paint was added to the ceiling. Together with the rearrangement of the furniture with the chairs facing each other, these changes make the room feel larger.

A bar, stools and pendant lighting was added in what was just an ordinary passthrough, with the bar stools, bar top, and corbels matching the kitchen cabinet color.

In the dining room, the large buffet was removed, new chairs for the table were added, and the solid door was replaced with a French door.

The kitchen was repainted in a neutral color and has a new stove, microwave-hood combo and a table that can double as a breafast nook or worktable. Repositioning the microwave above the stove frees up countertop space.
