Main Floor Transformation with New Paint and Finishes

This house had great bones and custom millwork, but the colors and finishes were dated. In lieu of demolition, a makeover with a new color palette gave this home an updated look. See the details of this main floor transformation with new paint and finishes in this House & Home video:

The kitchen was refreshed with a new countertop resembling Calcutta marble, sink, faucet and white subway tile backsplash; painting the upper cabinetry white and lower cabinetry black creates contrast and gives the space a fresh, youthful, fun vibe. A new banquette facing the backyard provides additional storage.

For the fireplace, painting the wood mantel white and adding new marble around the fireplace in a herringbone pattern and a slab around the surround keeps it a focal point in the living room while lightening the look. Seating and desk areas were created with mid-century furniture.

In the dining room, the millwork was painted white and the walls black, tying in with the color palette in the kitchen. Light floors, a piano in a rich mahogany color, and custom paintings in blues and greens warm up the space.
