Luxury Living Room Makeover

You had to strain to look up in this living room with its high wood paneling, and the overhead “Juliet” balcony was wasted space. There were also awkward touches such as the indoor awnings on the windows and the white electrical switches and outlets on the cherry stained built-ins. A catwalk was added on the upper floor; the iron work was installed on the side to maximize walking space. Underneath, the wall was paneled in solid walnut in a coffered effect, and the outlets and switches were made to blend in. The fireplace screen is custom made with a design that brought in elements from the catwalk and entryway iron railings. The doors flanking the fireplace open into the library.
