Leathered and Honed Finishes for Granite Countertops
Everyone is familiar with the highly reflective, standard factory polished finish of a granite countertop, but there are two new finishes that have a cool organic effect and are increasing in popularity. Learn more about leathered and honed finishes for granite countertops in this Smart Interiors video:
Leathering and honing are done when the slab is sent to the fabricator for cutting. The leathering process removes the polish and adds a bit of texture. A leathered finish hides fingerprints, water spots and smudges. Alternatively, the honing process removes the polish and leaves a smooth finish with no ridges or texture.
You can leather or hone granite, marble, quartz, or quartzite. Both finishes give the room a warm natural feel and will leave a lasting impression.
