Kitchen Makeover with Metallic Cabinet Refacing and Chalkboard Backsplash
Watch how this kitchen was transformed in half a day with a simple cabinet and backsplash makeover:
The original kitchen had a plain white color scheme. The cabinets were made over by applying stainless steel contact paper to the cabinet doors and adding new hardware. A coat of magnetic paint was applied to the backsplash, followed by a coat of chalkboard paint. Total cost of this makeover was just under $100; the result – an industrial chic kitchen featuring a message/recipe board.
Stainless steel contact paper is easy to apply. Remove the cabinet hardware first, then measure the cabinet doors. Cut the paper to size. Peel back the paper and cover each door starting at the top and peeling off the backing as you work down. Use a credit card followed by a soft cloth to smooth out any air bubbles.
