Kitchen Makeover Ideas

This HGTV video presents ideas for making over your kitchen prior to staging, but they are also good inexpensive ways to update your kitchen if you plan to stay in your current home for a while:

The kitchen is the most expensive room in the home to renovate, and also the one where homeowners want it all – space, storage, flow and updated “everything”. You don’t need to undertake a complete remodel though. Here are some affordable makeover ideas.

• Granite overlays will fit over your existing countertops and provide the high-end look of granite without the expense
• Peel and stick tile flooring goes over the existing flooring; no grouting needed
• Clean your hardwood floors with a solution of 1/2 gallon water and 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar to make them look like new
• In lieu of replacing your appliances, apply peel and stick stainless steel or use appliance spray paint
• Clean up your microwave by making a solution of 2 cups of water and 1/2 cup white vinegar, pouring it into a microwave-safe dish and leave it in the microwave on full power for 3.5 min; let sit for a few minutes and wipe clean
• Update your stove with new knobs and drip pans
• Install a faux metal backsplash
