Innovative Student-Designed Tiny Home
Do you think of a tiny house as being cluttered and cramped with low ceilings? The innovative student-designed tiny home presented in this HGTV Remodels video will change your perspective:
This tiny house was designed by students at the Yestermorrow Design and Build School. What sets this house apart from other tiny homes is just how spacious it feels. While it is only 220 square feet, it feels like a lot more because of the ten-foot ceilings.
The multipurpose room serves as a living room, dining room and kitchen. A pop-up countertop covers the stovetop, and storage is provided by a pull-out drawer underneath the oven. Open shelves keep your eyes moving about the space, while sliders on the top shelf are reflective, causing light to bounce around the space, making it feel larger. The shelf above the sink doubles as a drainage rack for dishes.
The bedroom has a raised bed with storage underneath, and the headboard doubles as a shelf. Additional storage is provided with a hanging closet.
The bathroom has a unique design, with the shower, sink and toilet all in one space, made possible by the rot resistant wood floor.
