Ideas For Entryway Design

This ConcreteNetwork.com video presents several home entryways where cast concrete was used for the front steps, pilaster caps and other entrance decor:

Entryway #1: The front patio area is framed with a decorative concrete band. Bullnose steps framed by pilaster caps come up to the front entrance. Additional features include runners for water that empty into flanking water features, planter bowls and pavers. A welcoming effect is created by widening the entry space as it goes down.

Entryway #2: Bullnose cast concrete steps are flanked by two garden walls anchored at the top and bottom with pilasters that have a cast concrete cap on them. The steps are finished with a stone texture matting with a base color of sandstone; the application of nutmeg and walnut release agents give it a darker texture.

Entryway #3: This beautiful entrance features cast concrete steps and caps on the walls, decorative bands, a circular medallion of pavers and stacked stone veneer. Planters resembling pilasters are filled with greenery and have lights on the side, lighting the steps and providing a nice welcoming effect.

Entryway #4: Cast concrete bullnose steps, caps on the fountain wall, bands, caps on top of the balustrades and pilasters highlight this symmetrical entrance. The pilasters have cast concrete caps and ball finials, which were stained with acid chemicals to create a bronze appearance.
