How to Upcycle a Trunk Into a Side Table

Instead of disposing of an old trunk you no longer use, re-purpose it as a piece of stylish furniture. Learn how to upcycle a trunk into a side table in this DIY Network video:

For this DIY project, you will need and old trunk, 1×1 pieces of wood, a circular saw, four stair spindles and paint.

1. Remove the trunk lid. This will serve as the table top.

2. Measure 1×1 pieces of wood to fit inside the trunk lid. These will hold the legs securely in place.

3. Cut the spindles to 26 inches. Lightly sand.

4. Wipe the trunk lid clean.

5. Prime the spindles and trunk lid, then paint. Embellish with gold accents.

6. Add spindle to one corner by drilling a 1/8-inch hole through trunk, wood and spindle and attaching with a 2-inch screw. Repeat on all sides.
