How to Turn Salvaged Objects Into Wall Art

Do you have a vintage sign, architectural item or another unique find that you’d like to display in your home? With just a little bit of work, you can convert it into art. Learn how to turn salvaged objects into wall art in this HGTV video:

1. Measure the object and add 3-5 inches on each side.

2. Use painters tape to mark the dimensions on the wall.

3. Cut fabric to fit the space.

4. Brush on wallcovering adhesive and apply the fabric to the wall.

5. Make a frame from 1×4 trim. For a modern look, paint the frame the same color as the wall.

6. Place the trim along the outside edge of the painters tape and attach to the wall.

7. Fill any holes with spackle and caulk inside and outside edges of trim with caulk gun.

8. Measure, then mark the wall where the object will hang. Attach a nail, screw or anchor to the wall as needed.

9. Add screw eyes or D-rings and picture wire to the back of the object.

10. Hang object on wall.
