How to Style a Living Room with Rugs
Rugs are an essential decorating element, especially in the living room where all the furniture has to be grounded, and the good news is you don’t have to spend a lot of money to get the look you want. Learn how to style a living room with rugs in this House & Home video:
From neutral to graphic to showstopping, nothing finishes a room like a rug. This video features six different looks for the same living room:
1. A base neutral rug with raised pile anchors the room perfectly. Layering in a smaller Moroccan-inspired rug placed at an angle adds visual interest and a bohemian vibe. Neutral textured pillows, exotic art prints and beautiful vases and vessels complete the look.
2. Using the same base rug as in Look #1, layering in a printed flat weave and placing it square with the base rug gives the space a quieter, more modern look – perfect for someone who likes a tailored, more global aesthetic.
3. A persimmon-hued base rug inspired a springtime palette. Pastel and floral-patterned pillows, a pompom throw and a lilac vase pop out against the navy wall.
4. Using the same accessories as in Look #3, a graphic low-pile base rug with red medallions is more attention grabbing.
5. This look goes all blue starting with a blue plush pile base rug that mimics abstract art, so no artwork was added to the wall. The sofa was accessorized with an assortment of navy pillows.
6. Using the same accessories as in Look #5, a soft flat weave in different tones of blue has a more casual feel but looked elevated with the brass table accents and blue pottery.
