How to Start Spring Vegetables from Fall Seeds

Just because we’re in the midst of the onset of fall doesn’t mean the gardening season is over. You can take something delicious and add it to your fall garden for spring surprises. Learn how to start spring vegetables from fall seeds in this P. Allen Smith video:



If you live in certain parts of the country where the winters are warmer, you can actually grow a fall vegetable garden, whether it’s in a raised bed or in a container. In this video, baby carrots had sprouted from dropped seeds from the summer crop and from the prior year’s roots. You can supplement “healthy volunteers” like these by planting a variety of seeds like collard greens, arugula, cabbage, bok choy, broccoli, cauliflower, beets and radishes. Spread out soil and organic fertilizer over the seeds and water regularly.
