How to Size and Hang a Chandelier
When it comes to dining rooms and chandeliers, two common questions are “What size of chandelier should I buy?” and “How high should I hang it?” Get the answers in this Smart Interiors video:
In order to determine the best width for your chandelier, measure the width of the dining room table, divide by half and add five inches.
It’s important to hang your chandelier at the right height. If you hang it too low, it will crowd the table; if you hang it too high, it will not relate to the table. A good rule of thumb – your chandelier should be 36-42 inches from the top of the table. If you have an eight-foot high ceiling, go with 36 inches; if your ceiling is higher, you can go up to 42 inches.
