How to Select a Tub Filler
Whether you’re designing a bathroom in a new home or remodeling your current bathroom, you need to know how to select a tub filler that’s right for your project. Learn more in this Build.com video:
There are three main things you need to consider when picking the right tub filler for your space: installation type, placement and style.
Freestanding floor-mounted tub fillers are very versatile as they can be installed close to the wall, side of the tub, head of the tub, or in the middle of the bathroom if you really want the tub to be the centerpiece of your design. Some require an additional rough-in valve to be installed beneath your floor, and some have water lines that just go directly to your pipes. These are things you want to consider when discussing it with your contractor.
Roman or deck mounted tub fillers can be mounted either on the deck of the tub itself or on a deck that’s built on the exterior of the tub. If you want this option, you need to make sure that your bathtub is compatible with it or that you have a contractor that will help build a pony wall to have a deck to mount that faucet.
As the name implies, wall-mounted tub fillers come directly off the wall. This is a more traditional style of installation that will most likely be the easiest option.
In terms of style, based on your design, you can choose a contemporary tub filler, a Victorian tub filler with traditional telephone-style hand sprayers, or you can push the envelope with an industrial style tub filler.
