How to Replace Recessed Lights with Pendant Lights Using a Conversion Kit
Updating the decor in your home can be as simple as screwing in a light bulb. Learn how to replace recessed lights with pendant lights using a conversion kit in this Lowe’s video:
1. Read the instructions that come with the conversion kit.
2. Make sure the power is turned off at the circuit breaker.
3. Unscrew the light bulb from the existing recessed light fixture.
4. Measure the distance from the ceiling to where you want the pendant to hang.
5. Adjust the cord length of the new pendant at the cord vise using a screwdriver.
6. Screw in the pendant light.
7. Slide the canopy up to the ceiling and tighten. If required, adjust the tension of the canopy until it lies flush with the ceiling.
8. Remove the socket ring from the light and the pendant and then put the shade over the socket and look inside.
9. Place the socket ring around the light socket inside the shade and tighten it up. This will secure the shade to the socket.
10. Add a new candelabra based light bulb.
Turn the electricity back on, turn the lights on, and enjoy your new look!
