How to Replace a Ceiling Fan

This Build.com video shows you a step-by-step process for replacing and installing a ceiling fan:

You will need a screwdriver, electric screwdriver and ladder. All other parts needed will come with the new fan. The steps are as follows:

Flip the breaker to the off position.
Remove the old fan starting with the light assembly, then moving on to the fan blades.
Disconnect the wires before pulling the old fan down.
Attach the mounting plate of the new fan to the ceiling. If provided, hang the fan by the supplied support cable.
Attach the wires making sure to match colors. If a red wire is available, attach the blue wire from the fan to the red wire; if not, attach the blue wire to the black wire.
Attach the fan body to the mounting plate.
Attach the fan blades.
Attach the light bulb and light shade.
