How to Make Velvet Pumpkin Decor

Colorful fabric pumpkins add a great seasonal accent to your fall mantel or dinner table. Learn how to make velvet pumpkin decor in this video by Better Homes and Gardens:



1. Lay velvet flat. Place pumpkin in center.

2. Pull off stem and set aside.

3. Cut a 2-inch hole at the stem.

4. Cut a fabric circle. It should be big enough to reach the stem.

5. Cut darts in fabric.

6. Pull one side up. Glue at the stem hole.

7. Repeat on opposite side.

8. Gather velvet in pleats and glue. Repeat on opposite side.

9. Glue excess velvet into hole and let dry.

10. Wrap stem with jute. Start at the top and wrap until covered.

11. Secure to pumpkin.

12. Use small stems from real pumpkins for smaller velvet pumpkins. Adhere to velvet pumpkin.

13. Trace or draw leaf shapes onto paper. Cut out.

14. Trace onto green felt and cut out.

15. Glue leaf to top of pumpkin.
