How to Make an Upside Down Planter

An upside down planter is an innovative way to add greenery to your home decor. If you lack space for plants, this DIY hack lets you hang beautiful greenery from the ceiling. Learn how to make an upside down planter in this Better Homes and Gardens video:



1. Cut hole in bottom of plastic pot using a drill.

2. Trace bottom of pot onto foam filter. Cut out circle.

3. Fold foam piece into cone shape. Cut off tip of cone.

4. Cut through one side of circle.

5. Measure 3/4 inch from top of pot.

6. Drill two 1/4-inch holes on opposite sides.

7. Thread rope through holes.

8. Tie knot inside pot on both sides.

9. Insert plant through cut hole.

10. Place foam filter around plant stems.

11. Press into bottom of pot to prevent soil from spilling.

12. Add additional potting soil.

13. Hang in desired location.
