How to Make a Wood Accent Table

1. Start by building the frame for the table. Glue two side pieces to a front and back piece. Make a second identical layer and simply stack it on the first.

2. Add each of the four legs, first gluing and clamping, then securing with screws.

3. Add cleats (square dowels) to the corners and then to the sides. All of these support the top cleats installed at each end and across the middle.

4. Create the tabletop by laying the boards on a work surface and then centering the frame on the boards and attaching it to the top by driving screws through the top cleats.

5. Attach the base rails. Use a couple of pieces of scrap wood to support each rail as you join it to the leg with pocket hole screws.

The end result is a table with no visible fasteners and no screw or nail holes to fill, so you can start enjoying your table faster.
