How to Make a Vertical Herb Garden

A wall-mounted herb garden is a great way to display your fresh herbs and keep them close to your kitchen for preparing your favorite dishes. Learn how to make a vertical herb garden in this video by Better Homes and Gardens:



Make the wood pot holders:

1. Measure and mark a wood board every six inches.

2. Cut wood at the marks.

3. Mark the center of each piece of wood.

4. Use a large drill bit to cut hole in each piece of wood.

5. Drill one hole on opposite sides of each wood piece. You will be sliding metal rods through these holes.

Mount wood pot holders on metal rods to make planters:

1. Place a cap nut on the end of two metal rods.

2. Thread a lock nut halfway down the metal rods.

3. Slide wood piece down the metal rods.

4. Add nuts to other side of wood and secure.

5. Thread lock washers 10 inches from the first wood piece.

6. Slide the second wood piece down. Secure with cap nuts.

7. Thread lock washers 10 inches from the second wood piece and slide the third wood piece down. Secure with cap nuts.

Hang planter on wall and add herbs:

1. Secure hanging wire to planter.

2. Install wall hook and hang planter.

3. Place potted herbs in holes in each wood piece.
